A while back, I was considering a blog or some posts about sex and decided to go ahead when I found out two young women in our local church were recently asked or demanded over text for sexual pictures or acts (which is not uncommon for young ladies).
A good friend asked me,”How will writing a blog about sex help?”
Good question.
Well, because the truth will set us free (and beating guys up is not legal).
Sex by God’s design is sacred, pure, holy, extremely powerful, intimate and priceless.
We are constantly bombarded with a perverse understanding of what sex is and what it is for. People by the tens of millions are seeking to use anyone that will allow them to gratify themselves with a sexual experience. Millions of others are willing to give of their sexuality to use sex to find some kind of validation or significance.
We have a generation using a precious, priceless gift to get and take something from someone instead of giving and receiving from a motivation of love and devotion.
Our generation is in desperate need to understand the beauty and sacredness of a gift that is ultimately a physical picture of covenant union with God.
It was meant to be exclusive in devotion, perfect in union, intoxicating in pleasure, vulnerable, open, and a place of knowing and being known without fear or shame.
When it is not exclusive, it says to the other, “You are not valuable enough to me for commitment or exclusive devotion.”
God’s design was for a lifetime covenant that communicates the highest value to one’s spouse, which is a reflection of a covenant relationship with Christ.
““For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.” Ephesians 5:31-32 NIV
Our sexuality is a unique gift meant to mirror his devotion to us and our undivided devotion in covenant with Him.
Feel free to share. To be continued…
